Welcome to the Grinnell College Physics Museum Web Site
The Grinnell College Physics Museum consists primarily of instruments and equipment used to teach physics or do physics research at Grinnell College. The core of the collection are objects purchased or constructed from approximately 1882 to 1970. In addition, the museum includes donated physics-related equipment, such as telephone and telegraph instruments and x-ray equipment. It also includes an excellent collection of meteorites which the college obtained as payment for tuition. You can learn more about the museum from the About link on this page.
Approximately half of the collection is on display in the Noyce Science Center at Grinnell College. Use the BrowseObjects link on this page to selectively view individual items or groups of items from the entire collection. Each item site contains an image, a brief description, and its location in the museum.
We invite you to visit our museum in the physics area in the Noyce Science Center at Grinnell College. The Seth Thomas clocks are displayed in the Kistle Science Library in the Center.
